David's journey towards sustainable living began with the birth of his first child. Joining a local parents' group, David and his wife met several architects who sparked their interest in sustainable architecture and eco-friendly homes. This experience ignited a passion for creating a healthy and environmentally conscious living space. Driven by their values, they embarked on a journey to design and build their dream home, incorporating sustainable practices and materials.

In 2019, David and his family made history by building New South Wales' first Cross Laminated Timber Passive House. This house was not just a home but a testament to their commitment to reduce energy consumption and live sustainably. The Passive House standard, which reduces energy consumption by up to 90% for heating and cooling, became a beacon of what’s possible when one aligns home construction with ecological principles.

However, as David delved deeper into the world of sustainable architecture, he faced a stark reality. He realized that only 3% of the population could afford the luxury of hiring an architect, and within this small group, only a select few opted for the rigorous Passive House standard. This was a privilege that most people couldn't access.

Determined to make a difference, David took the next step in his journey by completing the Passive House Designer course. There, he learned a startling fact: by 2050, approximately half of the homes in Australia will be the ones that exist today. Many of these homes are energy inefficient and will be left behind unless significant changes are made.

David’s vision for Archanaut was born from this realization. He saw the need for a transformative approach that would make sustainable living accessible to everyone, not just the fortunate few. Archanaut’s unique partnership with a fintech company allows us to provide no-cost investment returns, removing the financial barriers that often prevent homeowners from adopting sustainable practices.
